5 Family Fun Easter Activities on Long Island

Updated: Mar 19

It's officially March and the past few weeks with some 50+ degree days have made it seem like spring has officially sprung here on Long Island! I am here for it! With Easter being on the early side this year, it might have snuck up on you! Don't worry...there are tons of Long Island spots that are doing fantastic Easter activities for kids of all ages.

With spring break approaching, check out some of my absolutely favorite things to do on Long Island. Being a girl born and bred on the South Shore and now living on the North Shore, there's so much to do all across the island...which will you choose for your family?

  1. If your family is like mine, then food is a key stone of any holiday gather. Milleridge Inn is a place I remember going to when I was a little girl growing up on Long Island. The Milleridge Inn Easter Brunch never disappoints. Plus, they bill themselves as the largest Easter egg hunt in the tri-state area (required to have a meal reservation to book). Between hunting Easter eggs, a delicious meal and other exciting attractions like a petting zoo, balloon twisting, face painting and pony rides it will be a day to remember! A bit more untraditional is the Easter Brunch at the Long Island Aquarium, complete with a Penguin Scavenger Easter Egg Hunt. Anyone who knows me well knows I'm a sucker for a penguin...AND the Easter bunny will also make a special appearance! Your ticket to the aquarium is included with the meal allowing for a full-day of seeing friends under the sea.

  2. If burning calories is more your style than imbibing (which this is not me...let's be real), try a family-friendly fun run! Join other families for a Bunny Trail 5k Run/Walk at Bethpage State Park their free kids run starts at 9 AM! Long Island's Road Running Club is also holding a Bunny 5K Run/Walk at Eisenhower State Park. There is limited sign-up the day of so you may want to check it out before Easter weekend.

  3. Have a fun day out! Skip a big Easter basket this year and instead form core memories for you and your littles. Open play at places like Oh My Goodness (Garden City and Port Washington) or Once Upon a Treetop (Plainview) for littles or Monster Mini Golf (Garden City and Deer Park) and Laser Bounce (Levittown) for those a bit older are great options to turn a boring day off into a day to remember!

  4. Easter also means a break from school. The Long Island Science Museum in Plandome is hosting Holiday Workshops for children ages 4 and up! With classes like "Eggcelent Experiments" and "Dinosaur Dilemma", who wouldn't want to spend a day making science fun? Maybe if I had done more of this as a child, I wouldn't have failed Chemistry. But perhaps that's also another blog post.

  5. Have a spring photo session!! As you may know, I'm a family photographer based in Nassau County, NY! Just in time for spring, I'm doing indoor and outdoor mini sessions for the FIRST TIME! Mini sessions are a fast-paced, shorter session with a limited number of digital images. But, they also offer a more affordable price point all across Long Island. Subscribe here to follow along with me and book your own mini session!

  6. BONUS: Visit one of the amazing parks we have across Long Island for a beautiful hike or walk around the pond. Some of my favorites include: Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve in Huntington, Wantagh Park in Wantagh or Manorhaven Preserve in Port Washington. For me, I'm really looking forward to spending time with my nieces, our new foster cats and hopefully getting our lawn ready for the nicer weather! I can't wait for us to be able to sit out on our deck with a glass of wine (or two) in hand!
